Edwin Castaño
Building things that matter — code that ships, books that shape, music that moves, and a family that grounds me.
01 — What I Build
Software Developer
I craft full-stack applications, resilient infrastructure, and intelligent systems. From pixel-perfect UIs to containerized microservices — I care about code that's clean, systems that are reliable, and experiences that feel effortless.
Frontend & Design
Building calm, responsive interfaces with modern frameworks. Every pixel has purpose.
Backend & Infrastructure
Designing systems that deploy themselves. Container-native, declarative, and reliable.
DevOps & Automation
CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automation that doesn't break at 2 AM.
AI & Agentic Systems
Building AI agents, tool-calling pipelines, and autonomous workflows that actually ship.
02 — My Greatest Role
Father
Being a father reshaped everything — how I work, how I build, what I prioritize. It taught me patience (debugging a tantrum is harder than debugging code), the value of showing up every day, and that the most important legacy isn't in a repo — it's in the people you raise.
Every line of code I write, every system I design, every skill I learn — it's all building toward a future where my children see what it means to create, to care deeply about craft, and to never stop growing.
"The best thing I've ever built doesn't have a single line of code."
03 — What I Read
Reader
Books are my second brain. I read across genres — from speculative fiction that reimagines society to deep dives into software craft and human psychology. A few that left permanent marks:
Fiction & Ideas
Stories that bend reality and make you think differently about people, systems, and the future.
Dune · The Name of the Wind
Project Hail Mary · Neuromancer
Craft & Psychology
How the mind works, how systems function, and how to build things that last.
Atomic Habits · Deep Work
The Pragmatic Programmer · Thinking, Fast and Slow
Culture & History
Understanding where we come from to make sense of where we're going.
Sapiens · The Dawn of Everything
Homo Deus · Guns, Germs, and Steel
04 — What I Play
Guitarist
Six strings, infinite possibilities. I play acoustic and electric — fingerstyle, blues, rock, and whatever mood the day brings. Music is my reset button after a day of debugging.
Style & Influences
Fingerstyle arrangements, blues improvisation, classic rock riffs. I draw from players who make the guitar sing — from Mark Knopfler's touch to Tommy Emmanuel's energy.
Current Rotation
Working on fingerstyle arrangements of pop and folk songs, exploring open tunings, and constantly chasing that clean tone. Every song learned is a new phrase in a language without words.
